What is a tincture?
A tincture is a plant extract made by soaking herbs in alcohol for several weeks or months. Once sufficient time has passed, the plant material is removed and the liquid strained. The resulting liquid is now full of the benefits of the plant being tinctured.
This process is similar to making tea infusions or decoctions, except rather than steeping for a few minutes, the plants soak in alcohol for weeks or months.
What is “dual extraction”?
In a dual extraction process, an alcohol extraction is created along with a hot water extraction, and the two are then combined together. For many plants, alcohol will extract certain properties, while water extracts others.
A dual extraction helps access and engage the full spectrum of what a plant has to offer.
